ABSTRACT:
A process for the production of mineral wool products comprising admixing fine starting materials, a hydraulic binder, and an inorganic material containing at least 75% SiO.sub.2 and having an average particle size of less than 100 .mu.m to form a mouldable mixture, moulding the mixture to form briquettes, heating the briquettes to a temperature sufficiently high to form a melt and converting the melt thus formed into a mineral wool product.
