ABSTRACT:
Guanidine hydrochloride is produced from cyanogen chloride in a new manner. The cyanogen chloride is reacted with ammonia in the absence of a solvent at a temperature of about 140.degree. to 220.degree. C. It is advantageous to add an ammonium salt at the beginning of the reaction and to use ammonia in at least stoichiometrical amounts.
