ABSTRACT:
Hydrogen containing chlorosilanes, preferably trichlorosilanes, are prepared by reacting silicon tetrachloride with hydrogen at a temperature of 600.degree.-1200.degree. C. with a SiCl.sub.4 /H.sub.2 mixture having a molar composition between 1:1 and 1:50 in equilibrium with SiHCl.sub.3 and HCl and suddenly quenching the mixture to below 300.degree. C.
