ABSTRACT:
.alpha.-Acylacetamide 2-equivalent yellow couplers may be prepared by reacting .alpha.-halo-.alpha.-acyl-acetamides with phenols or NH-acidic organic compounds in the presence of a non-alkylatable bicyclic nitrogen-containing base, such as 1,5-diazabicyclo[4,3,0]non-5-ene or 1,8-diazabicyclo[5,4,0]-undec-7-ene.
