ABSTRACT:
A compound of formula (I): ##STR1## or a salt thereof, is prepared by reacting 7-aminocephalosporanic acid or a salt thereof, with a solution comprising a compound of formula ROSO.sub.3 H in a compound of formula ROH, and in the presence of at least one compound of formula B(OR).sub.3 or compound of formula CH.sub.2 (OR).sub.2 ; wherein, in each of said compounds of formulae (I), ROSO.sub.3 H, ROH, B(OR).sub.3 and CH.sub.2 (OR).sub.2, R represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms.
