ABSTRACT:
A chelated compound of uranium (IV) or thorium is prepared by reacting an anhydrous halide of uranium (IV) or thorium with a chelating agent such as acetylacetone in the presence of an anhydrous solvent and gaseous ammonia in the temperature range of 10 to 60.degree. C.
