ABSTRACT:
Process for the preparation of reactive tungsten comprising reducing a tungsten compound in a reducing atmosphere at temperatures ranging from about 450.degree. C to 700.degree. C. The reactive tungsten can be readily converted to WC, W.sub.2 C or WN.
