ABSTRACT:
A process for the coating of a carbon fiber composite which comprises carbon fibers bonded together with a polymeric material, which process comprises positioning the carbon fiber composite in a chamber maintained at a reduced pressure of from 25,000 to 10,000 Pa (250 to 100 mBar), and plasma spraying a coating onto a surface of the carbon fiber composite whilst cooling the said surface of the composite with an inert liquid coolant medium the said coating composition being selected from the group consisting of non-agglomerated hydroxyapatite or non-agglomerated modified hydroxyapatite.
