ABSTRACT:
Vinylene carbonate may be polymerized in bulk, in solution or in dispersion by means of free radical forming initiators. Suitable comonomers are vinyl compounds. The polymerization is carried out generally at a temperature of 40 to 170.degree. C. The dispersing agents used in the dispersion polymerization are organic compounds which are liquid under normal conditions and which do not dissolve vinylene carbonate. Homo- and copolymers of vinylene carbonate may be used as starting material for the preparation of homo- and copolymers of vinylene glycol.
