ABSTRACT:
This invention relates to a process for the preparation of meta-chloroanilines. Polychloroanilines containing at least one chloroatom in the meta position are reacted with hydrogen iodide in a homogeneous aqueous or organic medium at a temperature between about 90.degree. and 250.degree. C. Gaseous hydrogen and solid catalysts are not required. The meta-chloroanilines are useful in the manufacture of agrochemical intermediates.
