ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of highly concentrated free-flowing aqueous solutions of betaines, which is characterized in that at least one of the compounds of the general formula (I) ##STR1## is added to the reaction mixture before or during the quaternization reaction; wherein R, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, are each C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl, optionally substituted with hydroxyl, and n is 1-3.
