ABSTRACT:
There is disclosed a process for preparing cyclohexanone by catalytic dehydrogenation of cyclohexanol, which comprises conducting the dehydrogenation in the presence of a copper-chromium catalyst derived from a mixture of copper oxide and chromium oxide having an atomic ratio of copper to chromium between 8:2 and 2:8, said mixture being subjected to heat treatment at a temperature of 650.degree. to 900.degree. C. in a non-reducing atmosphere and to subsequent reduction to provide the desired catalyst.
