ABSTRACT:
For the preparation of basic aluminum chlorides by reaction of AlCl.sub.3 with aluminum hydroxides, there are generally used aluminum hydroxides easily soluble in mineral acids. According to the process of the invention, however, also such aluminum hydroxides which are soluble in mineral acids only at temperatures above 80.degree.C and which moreover are very cheap may be used when they are reacted with aluminum chloride hexahydrate suspensions at a temperature of from 110.degree. to 150.degree.C.
