ABSTRACT:
In the novel process alkylene glycol monoalkyl ethers of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 is an alkyl radical having 1 to 25 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 is H, CH.sub.3 or C.sub.2 H.sub.5 and, within the chain of the polyoxyalkylene radical, arranged randomly or in blocks, can also assume all three meanings, R.sup.3 is CH.sub.3 or C.sub.2 H.sub.5 and n denotes 1 to 100, are hydrogenated to give the corresponding alkylene glycol dialkyl ethers in the presence of a supported nickel catalyst using hydrogen without pressure.
