ABSTRACT:
An expedient synthesis of 4-(6-methoxynaphth-2-yl)-2-butanone is carried out by reacting 2-bromo-6-methoxynaphthalene with 3-ethylenedioxybutene in the presence of PdCl.sub.2 and triphenylphosphine, hydrogenating the 6-methoxy-2-(3-ethylene-dioxybuten-1-yl)naphthalene obtained and then hydrolysing the latter with an acid.
