ABSTRACT:
Mono- and dialkyl-resorcylic esters of the general formula ##SPC1##
Wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or an alkyl radical containing up to three carbon atoms, R.sup.2 represents an alkyl radical (preferably a lower alkyl radical such as methyl or ethyl) and R.sup.3 represents methyl or ethyl, are prepared by reacting the corresponding dihydroresorcylic esters having the general formula ##SPC2##
With organic N-haloamides. Halocaprolactams, and especially N-chlorocaprolactam, are preferred reactants.
