ABSTRACT:
A process for the preparation in homogeneous phase and in quantitative yield of 3-iminomethyl derivatives of rifamycin SV useful as antibiotic agents. Rifamycin S is reacted in an organic solvent with a compound ##STR1## to give a solution of [1,3-oxazino-(5,6-c) rifamycins] an intermediate compound which is treated with an organic solvent at a pH from 4 to 6. The aqueous phase is discharged and the organic phase is treated with an amine or hydrazine under basic conditions, the desired derivatives being finally isolated from this organic phase according to usual techniques.
