ABSTRACT:
The process for the preparation of 2-chlorobenzoxazoles of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, independently of one another, are hydrogen or halogen comprising reacting a benzoxazolinone of the formula ##STR2## with a molar excess of phosphorus pentachloride.
