ABSTRACT:
A water-miscible, non-hydroxylic, organic solvent is employed in the production of 2,5-dimethyl-1,4: 3,6-dianhydrosorbitol by methylation of 1,4: 3,6-dianhydrosorbitol with dimethyl sulfate.
