ABSTRACT:
1,4-Diamino-2,3-dicyano-anthraquinone is obtained in good yields and in high purity by reacting 1-amino-4-bromo-anthraquinone-2-sulphonic acid with ammonia and then reacting the 1,4-diamino-anthraquinone-2-sulphonic acid, which is not isolated as an intermediate, with cyanide ions, in formamide or N-methylformamide.
