ABSTRACT:
Hydroquinone-monophenyl ethers and their alkali metal salts of the formula ##STR1## (R=H or alkali) are obtained by reacting compounds of the formula ##STR2## with an excess of a compound of the formula ##STR3## (Kat=Na, K) in N-methylpyrrolidone at 230.degree.-260.degree. C.
