ABSTRACT:
This invention concerns a process for the production of diesters by hydroformylation/Michael addition of alkyl acrylates, which comprises contacting the alkyl acrylate with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst system comprising a rhodium-containing compound, excess phosphine-containing ligand, a nitrogen-containing compound and a solvent at a temperature of 70.degree.-150.degree. C. and a pressure of 500-4000 psi.
