ABSTRACT:
A process for the direct dyeing of keratin fibers, characterized in that it comprises in placing keratin fibers, to which a dye composition containing at least one cationic direct dye has been applied, in contact with a gas containing water vapor, the temperature of the gas preferably being above 75.degree. C., the contact time between the gas and the fibers to be dyed preferably not exceeding two minutes. According to the invention, the hair is dyed uniformly, from the roots to the tips, regardless of the state of the hair.
