ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to a process for the catalytic synthesis of methanol from a raw gas which mainly contains CO, CO.sub.2 and H.sub.2 and is obtained in a catalytic natural-gas cracking plant, the raw gas being compressed in several stages to the synthesis pressure of 50-150 bar and gas being purged from the synthesis loop in order to maintain a given inert gas level.
