ABSTRACT:
A process for producing 1-4 butanediol comprising reacting 1-4 butynediol with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst comprising ruthenium and palladium in a weight ratio of about 4:1, at a temperature of from 60.degree. to 180.degree. C. and at a pressure of between 1 to 50 bars.
