ABSTRACT:
A process for preparing a sulfur-sensitized silver halide photographic emulsion whose average grain size does not exceed 0.5 .mu.m, which comprises forming the silver halide grains in the presence of ammionia and incorporating therein at least one hydroxytetrazaindene compound represented by the following general formula (I) or (II): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represents a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group or an aromatic group, and n represents 1 or 2; to thereby increase sensitivity.
