ABSTRACT:
The impurity content, e.g. propionitrile, in a fraction containing C.sub.5 or C.sub.6 tertiary olefins obtained by cracking hydrocarbons is reduced by distilling with an alkanol and removing the impurity as a higher boiling point fraction.
