ABSTRACT:
An improved process is described for recovering lithium from evaporatively concentrated brines. Epsom salt recovered from the brine at about 0.degree. C. is added to the concentrated lithium-containing brine, so as to precipitate lithium sulfate monohydrate, the brine having previously been subjected to the sequential steps of two stage chilling, evaporative concentration, further chilling and vacuum evaporation.
