ABSTRACT:
A process for producing a silicon isocyanate compound which comprises reacting a silicon halide compound in which a fluoride compound is excluded with an isocyanate of the formula [I] M(NCO).sub.m or a cyanate of the formula [I'] M(OCN).sub.m wherein M represents a member selected from the group consisting of alkali metals and alkaline earth metals, and m is 1 or 2, in the presence of one or more reaction accelerators selected from the group consisting of alkylene glycols, polyalkylene glycols and, ether and ester derivatives thereof, thereby to prepare a silicon isocyanate compound containing at least one Si--NCO linkage.
