ABSTRACT:
For the production of a powder-like furan resin use is made of a mixture of a ketone pertaining to the furan series, phenol-formaldehyde resin and, if desired, furfurol taken in a weight ratio of 10:3- 15:2-5 respectively. The mixture of said components is heated to a temperature within the range of from 130.degree. to 200.degree. C., whereupon the desired product is formed. The process may be conducted in the presence of a catalyst comprising a mixture of tin dichloride and hexamethylene diamine.
The resulting powder-like furna resin is resistant against highly-aggressive media at a temperature of up to 120.degree. C.; it is also resistant against the effect of oxidizing agents at a temperature of up to 80.degree. C. Martens yield temperature of the powder-like furna resin of the present invention is as high as 300.degree. C. The resin yield is as high as 93%.
