ABSTRACT:
A polymaleate having an average molecular weight of 300 to 5000 is obtained by polymerizing a monoalkali metal maleate or monoammonium maleate at 80.degree. to 180.degree. C. in the presence of a polymerization initiator in an aqueous solvent.
