ABSTRACT:
Magnesium metal is produced by the reaction of aluminum-silicon alloy with a calcium magnesium aluminate silicate slag or with magnesium oxide in the presence of such slag, at a temperature of about 1,400.degree.-1650.degree. C and a pressure of 25-500 millimeters of mercury.
