ABSTRACT:
A process for producing an isoindolinone pigment, which comprises hydrolyzing a salt formed from an isoindolinone compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein X represents a chlorine or bromine atom, R represents an aromatic group or a heterocyclic group, and m is 0 or an integer of 1 to 4, and a base, in water in the presence of an organic solvent not miscible freely with water.
