ABSTRACT:
When chlorinating a polyolefin in an aqueous suspension system, a metal salt of an alkyldiphenyl ether disulfonic acid represented by the following formula [I], or together with an anionic surfactant, are each added in an amount of 0.01 to 5% by weight based on the polyolefin, as a suspension stabilizer: ##STR1## (wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, R.sub.2 is an alkyl group having 6 to 36 carbon atoms, and M is an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal).
