ABSTRACT:
A process for producing modified crystalline galloalumino silicate having the ZSM-5 crystal structure, and a process for producing aromatic hydrocarbons by the use of a catalyst containing the above modified crystalline galloalumino silicate are disclosed. The modified crystalline galloalumino silicate having the ZSM-5 type crystal structure is produced contacting with a 0.1-2N aqueous alkali hydroxide, followed by calcining galloalumino silicate having the ZSM-5 type crystal structure as obtained by the hydrothermic reaction, at a temperature of 700.degree. to 1,000.degree. C. The aromatic hydrocarbons are produced by contacting hydrocarbons having 2 to 12 carbon atoms with a catalyst containing the above modified crystalline galloalumino silicate.
