ABSTRACT:
A process for producing a biodegradable polymer, which comprises subjecting a cyclic compound of the following formula (1) or (2) to ring opening polymerization: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a C.sub.1-10 alkyl group, ##STR2## wherein R.sub.2 is a C.sub.1-10 alkyl group, and R.sub.3 is a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1-10 alkyl group.
