ABSTRACT:
A process for producing .alpha.-amino and .alpha.-amino-substituted-benzylpenicillins in high yield and purity by separately removing solid contaminants from a solution containing a 6-aminopenicillanic acid reactant and an acylating agent solution prior to combining them in a reaction mixture.
