ABSTRACT:
Vinylidene fluoride is produced by the gaseous phase reaction of vinylidene chloride with hydrofluoric acid at a temperature of from about 400.degree. to 700.degree. C. in the presence of oxygen and a catalyst containing AlF.sub.3 either alone or in combination with a transition metal fluoride selected from iron, cobalt, chromium, nickel, zinc and combinations thereof.
