ABSTRACT:
A process is provided for preparing non-aromatic, nitrogen-containing compounds represented structurally as: ##STR1## wherein R is CN or CH.sub.2 NH.sub.2, and R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are hydrogen or C.sub.2 H.sub.5 --CH--CH.sub.2 R wherein R is as previously defined, which comprises reacting an effective amount of a nucleophilic agent with 2-pentenenitrile under conditions whereby said 2-pentenenitrile undergoes an addition reaction with said nucleophilic agent to form said nitrogen-containing compounds. Also provided is a novel process for curing polyepoxides using di- and polyamine epoxy curing agents.
