ABSTRACT:
Alkylene oxide is added as a vapor in preparing C.sub.2 or higher hydroxyalkylcellulose ethers and hydroxyalkylalkylcellulose ethers by continuously adding the reagents to alkali cellulose at elevated temperatures.
