ABSTRACT:
A process for preparing fine fibers (or whiskers) consisting of carbon and silicon is disclosed, in which a mixed gas of transition metal compound(s), organo-silicon compound(s) and optionally carbon compound(s) is reacted at a high temperature, such as in the range of 700.degree. to 1,450.degree. C.
