ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to a process for preparing dimethylmonochlorosilane (CH.sub.3).sub.2 Si(H)Cl by partial hydrogenation of dimethyldichlorosilane (CH.sub.3).sub.2 SiCl.sub.2 in a reaction system comprising magnesium hydride and aluminum chloride and an inert liquid organic vehicle while milling continually.
