ABSTRACT:
A process for preparing crystalline hydroxylamine-O-sulfonic acid bya. reacting hydroxylamine or a hydroxylammonium salt with oleum/sulfuric acid or with chlorosulfonic acid/sulfuric acid at a temperature in the range from 90 to 130° C.,b. continuing to stir the reaction mixture at a temperature in the range from 90 to 130° C. for a period of from 2 to 24 hours,c. cooling the reaction mixture to a temperature in the range from 10 to 40° C. within a period of from 1 to 12 hours andd. subsequently removing and washing the hydroxylamine-O-sulfonic acid which has crystallized out.
