ABSTRACT:
Carbonyl sulfide is prepared with an enhanced purity by a process wherein carbon monoxide is caused to bubble through molten sulfur maintained at a temperature of from 300.degree. to 440.degree. C.; and, the resulting gaseous mixture is maintained at a reaction temperature exceeding 510.degree. C. but not higher than 650.degree. C.
