ABSTRACT:
A process for preparing a rare earth oxide type phosphor comprises compressing a starting mixture composed essentially of a matrix material for said rare earth oxide type phosphor, an activator material and a flux under a presssure of from 250 to 1500 kg/cm.sup.2 to form a compact, and firing and unbinding the compact thereby obtained.
