The preparation of racemic 1R, 4R, 5R-5-(4', 8'-dimethyl-5'-hydroxy-7'-nonenyl)-5-methyl-8-oxabicyclo[3.2.1]-octane-1-a cetic acid is described. The cycloheptane compounds are active uteroevacuant agents.
