ABSTRACT:
4-AMINO-DIPHENYLAMINE IS PREPARED BY CATALYTICALLY HYDROGENATING 4-NITROSO-DIPHENYLAMINE IN A WATER-IMMISCIBLE SOLVENT IN THE PRESENCE OF Raney nickel as a catalyst. The hydrogenation reaction is generally carried out at a temperature in the range of from 20.degree. to 150.degree.C and can be carried out under an elevated hydrogen pressure of up to 50 atmospheres.
