ABSTRACT:
A process is provided for producing 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,2-dichloroethane of formula (I) wherein pentachloroethane of formula (II) is reacted with hydrofluoric acid in the presence of a mixed catalyst either of pentahaloantimony of general formula (III) and MX.sub.2 L.sub.2 of general formula (IV) or of pentahaloantimony of general formula (III) and MX.sub.2 (L--L) of general formula (V)
