ABSTRACT:
A process for taking out of operation a reactor containing catalyst which has been used for hydrogenation of a fluid feed, which process comprises contacting the catalyst at low temperature with ever increasing amounts of an oxygen-containing gas until no substantial heat is generated within the reactor and the oxygen partial pressure of gas in the reactor is at least 0.2 kg/cm.sup.2.
