ABSTRACT:
A process for manufacturing 1,2-dibromo-3-chloropropane is disclosed. The process comprises the steps of reacting bromine and allyl chloride at a temperature of from 5.degree. to 85.degree. C. and maintaining the reaction mixture between 60.degree. to 90.degree. C. for a sufficient length of time so as to permit the reaction between the bromine and allyl chloride to go to completion. In addition, the process also includes the step of adding an agent so as to stabilize and purify the product so formed.
